
Hope College’s Sophie Hackett has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played September 11-17.
The senior setter from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) averaged 36.4 assists
over five matches last week while leading the nationally ranked Flying Dutch to three
victories.
This is the third time Hackett has received the MIAA award in her career and the first
time this season.
Hackett totaled 54 assists during a five-set victory at Saint Mary’s on Wednesday.
She then totaled 128 assists during the Elmhurst, Illinois Invitational, where Hope
defeated Aurora, Illinois and Elmhurst, Illinois.
Hackett also had 42 assists and 13 digs with three blocks in a four-set loss against
fifth-ranked Colorado College on Friday.
Hackett enters the week ranked first in the MIAA at 9.66 assists per set.
Hackett also averaged 11.5 digs, 2.0 service aces and 1.4 blocks per match last week.
